Magnus Gjoen's Eau De Sèvres & Aqua di Pompei is a bold fusion of heritage, design, and contemporary culture. Inspired by the delicate beauty of porcelain, the work reimagines one of history's most prized luxury materials in the form of an everyday object: a can of water. Adorned with intricate motifs reminiscent of 18th-century French and English porcelain, the piece juxtaposes the fragility and rarity traditionally associated with fine ceramics against the simplicity and utility of drinking water.
At its core, the duo explores the paradox of value. Porcelain, once worth more than gold and prized by royalty, is inherently fragile, while water - essential to all life -has long been taken for granted despite becoming an increasingly scarce resource in many parts of the world. By combining these two symbols, Gjoen invites viewers to reconsider what society chooses to protect, consume, and cherish.
Blending historical craftsmanship with contemporary design language, Eau de Sèvres & Aqua di Pompei continues Gjoen's signature exploration of beauty, vulnerability, and the shifting boundaries between luxury and necessity.
 
N.B. This product is for preorder and will be released between October and December. There is a possibility that due to high production minimums we will only produce one design, which means if you ordered the one that was ordered less of we reserve the right to send you the other one or two of the same. We will obviously try our best to make both of them happen. As there is more then one factory involved in producing these - the can maker and the filler, we may reserve the right to fill both with still water. We usually manage to get it spot on, but slight variations to the designs which we might think better might happen as the project unfolds.
